Post-Con Stuff

So yep, Otakon is now over. Just to be prepared, I already reserved a room nearby for next year. SO anyway, it was pretty cool. My main cosplay didn't really seem to go over too well, but there could be a number of reasons foir that, explanations later. Usually the evenings of cons aren't really my favorite times, but this time, I didn't feel as terrible as I usually do. I still missed a couple of panels due to camping out in the game room and unfortunately, I missed the Naruto: GNT 4 tourney, but it wasn't because I was late. It was because I was ON TIME. See, just to line up for the sign-ups(the tourney was at 4pm), you had to be there 90min before the tourney. That's 2:30pm. I got to the game room at about 2:05pm. At 2:15, they announced over the PA that the tourney was full. I'd been holding back with my skillz until that point, so once they announced that, it became "Gai's Pwnage Time." So from about 2:15 to 3, I just pwned folks in that game. Now after seening some of the people play AFTER the tourney, I'm not 100% sure that I would have won it, but I definitely would have been a force to be reckoned with. Dattebayo. Now for the pics, yah?

THURSDAY:

Outside the Convention Center at around 5 or so.

An Asuma we saw outside. "We" being [info]deuceloosely & [info]mrs_roy_sama, 2 of my roomies for this trip.

Ocelot from Metal Gear Solid 3

Hooray! It's Amy Rose!

This is a piece of the Inner Harbor in Baltimore.

FRIDAY:

THIS is the pic I was telling you about, Mia. As I was headed to the Convention Center from the hotel, I happened to notice a McDonald's when I saw what appeared to be a Chicago friend of mine on his way across the street. If I hadn't seen a couple other people from Chicago on Thurs, I would have dismissed it immediately, but instead, I spent about a minute trying to get a better look.

Since my pre-reg fell through, I had to register on Friday, which I was led to believe would be terrible. Within 30-45min of getting at the end of the line, I was in & had a badge. But right before I walked up to the station where I got my badge, I happen to look in front of me and see this man:

None other than CARD CAPTOR WILL. Who I knew from CHICAGO. (Sing "It's a Small World" here.)

If you know me, you know I HAD to do this. I've got to give this guy credit though. Now, I know all of Great Saiyaman's poses. Out of those, THIS is the only pose I've never held. We had to hold these poses for about 30seconds and I had to shift about 2 or 3 times. He never shifted once.

I saw this Mario before, but due to space, I had to get rid of the picture.

As I was coming down the escalator to see the game room, I noticed a small photoshoot going on with these guys:

COMPLETELY fitting. Too bad I wasn't there early enough to get Gai-sensei doing some Saiyaman poses.

This is what the line to get into the game room looked like on Friday. But while we were chanting to let us in, I turned around and noticed 2 really great costumes:

One of the 2 Captain Planets. Yes, there were TWO.

and the bum from VGCats. I forget his name, though. I wonder if this guy got to see Scott in Artist's Alley? Speaking of which, why do I find out that Scott Ramsoomair, artist/author of VGCats was at Otakon AFTER the con?

The game room was about the size of ACen's Dealer's Room. Seriously. EASILY about 9x ACen's game room. No shiz-nit.

For those that may not realize it, this guy was Capt. Malcolm from Firefly/Serenity.

And here's some eye candy for you, [info]valentinewolfe:

Note the B/W-ness.

This is a perfect specimen of female Ranma. Red hair w/ braid: check. Unisex chinese outfit: check. Hot & curvy: check.

I saw him in the Dealer's Room. I LOVE that Fuuma Shuriken.

I get out of the game room once & notice this - I had no idea what was going on, but people were throwing some sort of prizes or something.

YAKITATE! JAPAN!!

The only reason I took this picture is because I walked past him probably about 3-4 times within about a 3hr period and each time, he was sitting in that same spot, reading that book. HOW KAKASHI IS THAT?!

X-Men!

Ash Ketchum!

Hecks yeah - Tanuki Mario from Super Mario Bros 3

Dante!

Brock & Onix!

When somebody took a pic of me, they pointed me in a direction that they thought might be interesting. When I got there, I met her:

If that's a 9 year-old boy, then joining the Super Adventure Club may not be such a bad idea

Batman from Batman Beyond! He was travelling with a Catwoman as I later noticed.

Can you people recognize that shirt NOW?

This is Caitlin, who I met in the Otacafe(con suite) on Friday evening and she is awesome. I wish I could remember what she was cosplaying on Friday, but I DO remember she was reading Samurai Deeper Kyo. In japanese. That she taught herself. AND she's a quickie translator for SDK & Bleach among other manga. She also cosplayed Mayuri (12th Captain) from Bleach.

SATURDAY:

BWAHAHAHAHA!!

YES!! The Pokemon crew!!

Now that I think about it, I should have jumped in this pic. Also, note the chidori in Sasuke's hand. Nice touch.

I accidentally smacked this girl behind me in the head with my fan trying to get to this guy:

FREAKIN' CAPTAIN N!!! THE GAME MASTER!!

And here's a pic from the Naruto photoshoot:

Yep, that's me in there.

And here are a couple better pics of the newest person to join Jay's([info]frenziedfury) cru:

With the rest of the Sand Genin

And there were a couple of objections when I jumped up for this:

In the SnJ portion of the photoshoot. Forgive my terrible poses. I've never been in those photoshoots before. Unfortunately, I missed the REAL SnJ photoshoot on Friday evening.

These past 2 pics thanks to Hikaruchan of Cosplay.com

This was an interesting take on Kakashi. The apron says "Kinko's Copy Ninja." If you could see the name tag, you'd see that it says "Kakashi" on that.

This was the food court in the mall of the Inner Harbor. There I saw...

Android #17, who was nice enough to give me his table when he was done. That's a BAD #17, BAD! You're supposed to destroy me or something!

Very VERY cute outfit...well, I'd be lying if I said it was just the outfit.

That was one brave guy.

OH! As I came out from the Naruto photoshoot, I saw the suit and his wing and said, "NO WAY!! IT'S..."

"...THE WINNIE-THE-POOH SEPHIROTH FROM PENNY ARCADE!!"

Rizel!!

Guile

And [info]feelin_blu's eye candy:

And that's the sole reason I took this pic. So feel special, Mia. It IS a cool costume, though, because the wings actually fold

In the Artist's Alley while I was looking for [info]glitchphil

...and if you think that's Inspector Zenigata, take a closer look.

Izumi Curtis & husband

The Dread Pirate Roberts! Rock it.

There were a lot of MK cosplayers - male AND female.

Go Speed Racer, go Speed Racer, go Speed Racer, GOOO!!!

Symbiote Spidey & Black Cat - one of the hottest anti-heroes females to ever be seen in comics.

JING!!

A Pikmin

There were surprisingly a lot of Ranma cosplayers. Especially Ryoga.

Yo! It's Yoh Asakura from Shaman King! There were a few of those, too. I really liked that he had a little Amidamaru with him.

It's so nice to see that people like Yakitate! Japan

Super Sailor Moon and a Sailor Star. I should know which one, but the Stars are the only senshi I'm unfamiliar with.

There were a couple Sakons wandering around. This was the first one I saw.

I remembered seeing this guy posting on the Otakon forums, so I supported him. Not only that, but I like Danny Phantom. I haven't seen much of it, but it's definitely an interesting concept.

ANKO!! I love her Anko costume above most Anko cosplayers. See, for a top, Anko wears fishnet & a trench coat. That's it. Most Anko cosplayers usually wear some kind of shirt or fishnet with a black cover across the chest or something. You can't really see it in this pic, but the bra she's wearing is nude-colored so that you don't see it until you get right up on her. GOOD CHOICE.

I saw this spot and the first thing I thought of was good old Onizuka. Now if I was cosplaying as him, it would have been awesome because then, I could go and do what he likes to do at the mall and it would have been really easy.

Her skirt doesn't look like it spread that far, but it did.

SUNDAY:

Saavik from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan & Star Trek III: The Search For Spock. Nice. I've never seen a Star Trek cosplayer before.

I was just basically a little disappointed that there was no Hunter x Hunter cosplay. Now, I'm going to have to do a little touching up on my Temari. All it really needs is a little color. All changes seen here.

I also made goals of what to buy:

Target Purchases:
Battle Stadium D.O.N.(PS2/GC)
Naruto: Narutimett Hero 3(PS2)
Dragon Ball Z - Bardock: Father of Goku
Rock Lee plushie
Slap Happy Rhythm Busters(PSX)
Rock Lee/Gai poster
Dragon Ball vol. 15-16
Jing: Twilight Tales vol. 5-6
Battle Royale
Casshern
Naruto pins
Hunter x Hunter pins
Dragon Ball/Z pins
Yu-Gi-Oh! pins
Bleach pins
Yu-Gi-Oh!: Duelist vol. 7-17
Yu-Gi-Oh!: Millennium World vol. 1-4
Hellsing vol. 1-2

Man, that was long.

The guy with the wings is Devil Jin from Tekken.

I know - I just hate Tekken. that's why it was for my friend. She's in love with Jin.

Yeah, it was long. And since I personally don't care what you got on your what to buy list, can you put that under your cut as well, please? My f-list is being eaten alive as it is, you don't need a bigger bite than everybody else.

Ah, nooo, that Kawachi.

I was the world class clown judge. From like the 2nd or 3rd arc of the series.
We had a Kawachi, Azuma and Kuroyan (other judge, the one who calls everyone TRASH) too.

<- Pierrot.

AH - I saw a couple of those. They had me wondering if they were some new suit of Hisoka's from Hunter x Hunter. I haven't gotten too far in it yet, but I DO know that I like it.

That isn't Ocelot - another member of this comm. has a picture of him and IDs him as Schroedinger from Hellsing.

[info]tinmaninacan

August 11 2006, 20:41:10 UTC 5 years ago

does schroedinger carry his gun backwards in its holster?

August 11 2006, 23:54:03 UTC 5 years ago

actually, I may have misspoke. I don't remember who exactly that's supposed to be, but it's not Ocelot. I know that much ^_^;;

August 12 2006, 04:42:38 UTC 5 years ago

that's what made me believe it was Ocelot - his gun(s?)was backwards in its holster.

::SUPERBLUSH::

Thank you! ^__________^

And I was beginning to think I was the *only* Ranma cosplayer there! I didn't see anyone else! It made me sad.

I definitely have to bring my Herb costume out of semi-retirement. Gotta keep the Ranma love alive!

August 12 2006, 04:50:44 UTC 5 years ago

well, relatively, i mean. in the past 4 cons i've been to, i've only seen maybe 2 Ranma cosplayers, but none actually as Ranma. At Otakon, I saw...i think 1 male Ranma, 2 or 3 female, 4 Ryogas, & 1 or 2 Shampoos. But yeah, definitely my favorite Ranma cosplayer there.
